chenoa goodfried
Born Chenoa Goodfried, I decided to rename myself Lady Savage. An artist name that best represents my work and who I am. Ironic to many, I am sure most are confused by the conflicting names. Typically a savage is looked down upon. Considered to be an uncivilized, fierce, untamed beast like person with no concern for life in general. On the other hand a lady is a woman of elegance. She is polite, refined and well spoken. The two are extreme opposites but compliment each other strongly. Most of us (humans) discover that we are hot or cold, pleasant or mean, polite or rude. The world can be equally the same, fair or unfair, exciting or bland, effortless or difficult. Sometimes life is not either but a combination of both. It can be wonderful and dreadful at the same time. That is the balance that people need to survive. For me that is Lady Savage. A lot of woman can be and are lady savage. She is a lady with a secret. She is a lady with a past. I want to share with people the way I see things. The world will know my dreams through my lens. At times the work may be dark and grimy but its up to the viewer to see the beauty in the image. Remember this, no matter how despairing a photo can be one must dig deep to find the light hidden within.
The word Savage brings to mind visions of unspoiled, virgin vistas and ideas. Your eyes behind the camera exposes all that to me. Gives me something to marvel or think about. Brava!

What a beautiful story you not only express in your amazing artwork but in your writing as well. When I look at your art I see a visual of your name because while I see a struggle I see hope. Through the darkness in your work I see light which is powerful and inspiring. You are one talented woman with so much to show the world….through a much different view than most are used to.
